The science of gin and… we’re recruiting! – July Newsletter

Welcome to our July Newsletter!

We hope you’re all having a great summer! We are currently getting ready for the exciting academic year ahead. We’ll be back in September with plenty of new activities but in the meantime…

ChatSci

ChatSci will be back at the end of September 2019. Keep an eye on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the latest updates.

What d’ya wanna hear about?
If there is any topic you’d like to hear from, let us know, and we’ll do our best to find speakers in that field.

Fancy speaking?
We are looking for speakers for series 9 (Sept/Oct) and 10 (Nov/Dec) so feel free to get in touch! We think everyone has a story to tell, and there’s no better way to do it than through an informal conversation with science lovers. Plus, speakers get a free drink as a thank you! Interested? Drop us an email: intersci.edinburgh@gmail.com

Join us…

We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our amazing team. If you want to volunteer with InterSci and help out with any of our upcoming events or if you have an event idea you’d like us to help make a reality get in touch!

We are also looking for people to fill two specific roles:
Secretary – if you like to keep things organised and running, this is the role for you. You have to be a student at the UoE to fill this role.
ChatSci Manager – this is a great opportunity for someone who wants to increase their network in Edinburgh and meet amazing people.

Super fun antics for your diaries

InterSci’s Gin talk and tour – Welcome week 2019
Ever thought about the science behind your G&T? Visit 56 North with us for a tour and tasting session, followed by a talk by PhD student Jan Hodel, whose research specialises in gin distillation. More info coming soon…

Explorathon
We’ll be running a special Explorathon ChatSci event for European Researcher’s night in late September, so if you’d like to be a speaker in this amazing event and talk about your research to a broad audience, get in touch!

Science Chats at Grassmarket

As another series of Grassmarket science chats comes to an end, we are looking for scientists to come and share their research in the next series. As scientists, we take it for granted that we can chat about science and ask questions but it’s quite a unique opportunity for many people. If you would like to know more about how you can get involved send us an email.

Our 3rd series of Grassmarket science chats will be starting in September. Keep an eye out for our speakers workshop that will take place early September!
