It’s September! That means two things: it’s back to school/uni and our beloved flagship event CHATSCI IS BACK. That’s right. I can hardly contain my excitement either. There’s a whole heap of other stuff coming up too so without further ado, let’s get to it.
The best conversations in town are nearly here!
1 week to go before ChatSci is back for Series 5. Join us on September 10th at Harry’s Southside Bar on Buccleuch Street. We have some great speakers and fascinating topics coming up every fortnight, from the science of viruses to science and religion. Our final event of the series (October 22nd) will be an open discussion on genetically modified crops, moderated by a specialist in the field. Join our Facebook events:
We’d like to know what you think of our current events. If you have attended any Ask a Scientist or ChatSci event, we would really appreciate you filling in our quick questionnaire. (It takes ~4 minutes)
Fancy a free drink?
We are looking for speakers for Series 6 (November-December), so get in touch. Everyone has a story to tell, and there’s no better way to do it than through an informal conversation with science lovers. And last but not least, all speakers get a free drink as a thank you!
Interested? Email us and feel free to ask us anything – firstname.lastname@example.org

SciComm Volunteering Opportunity
Would you like to gain science communication experience? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you! We are organising an event for the Midlothian Science Festival titled ‘World of Plastics’ on Monday 8th October and need two volunteers to help us deliver it. The event aims to get children and the public thinking about the harmful effects of plastic on the environment and to promote ways that they can reduce their own plastic use. You don’t need to be a plastics expert to deliver this super fun activity and we will provide a full briefing of it so you’ll know exactly what to expect. The event is at Edinburgh College Midlothian Campus, 10am-2pm. Please get in touch if you’re interested.
If you want to volunteer with InterSci in any other ways such as helping out with any of our upcoming events please email email@example.com.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Finally we would like to leave you with our fun science fact of the month:
Popcorn and corn are different species.
Go on… Google it.
